Thirthahalli: A man attempting to commit a house theft in Thirthahalli was injured after he fell into a pit dug for a Jal Jeevan Mission pipeline installation while trying to escape upon being spotted by locals.
The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at the residence of Chandrashekar in Demlapura village of Thirthahalli taluk. According to sources, Chandrashekar had gone to his plantation to spray pesticides, while his wife and son had left for an event. When he returned home, he noticed a man trying to break the lock on his front door.
Chandrashekar raised an alarm, prompting nearby residents to rush to the scene. Startled by the sudden attention, the accused tried to flee but ended up falling into a pit dug for pipeline work and sustained injuries.
The locals promptly rescued the injured man and admitted him to the hospital. He has been identified as Hanif, and a case has been registered at the Thirthahalli Police Station.
