Kalaburagi: In a daring pre-dawn robbery, unidentified miscreants looted Rs 18 lakh from an SBI ATM located near Ramanagar on the city’s Ring Road around 3 a.m. on Wednesday.
According to police reports, the culprits first disabled the CCTV cameras by spraying them with black paint before gaining entry into the ATM kiosk. Using a gas cutter, they broke open one of the two ATM machines—precisely targeting the one that had cash.
The other machine, which did not contain money, was left untouched. Officials confirmed that the cash was loaded into the ATM by SBI staff at around 6 p.m. on Tuesday evening (April 8). The thieves exploited the absence of a security guard at the kiosk to carry out the operation undisturbed.
The Sub-Urban Police of Kalaburagi have registered a case and launched an investigation to track down the suspects.
