Comic strip creator Scott Adams on Monday revealed that he is battling the same aggressive form of prostate cancer as Joe Biden and says he may not live past this summer, reports the Daily Mail.
During his livestream on video platform Rumble, the creator of the iconic “Dilbert” comic strip said he has prostate cancer that has already spread to his bones. Adams said that doctors have told him he doesn't have long left to live.
“I expect to be checking out sometime this summer,” Adams, 66, said. He didn’t specify when he was first diagnosed but shared that he had kept his condition private until now.
He also suggested his diagnosis preceded the former US president’s: “I’ve had it longer than [Biden] has had it. Well, longer than he’s admitted to having it.”
The remark was a reference to growing questions surrounding Biden’s recent announcement. 82-year-old Biden revealed last week that he had stage 4 prostate cancer with bone metastases.
Conservative commentator Robby Starbuck urged followers to “lift him up in prayer,” calling Adams “a rare man who impacted so many people.”
“As he says here, his life expectancy is not likely to go past this summer but I hope it brings him some peace to know he’ll live on through those of us he impacted,” Starbuck wrote.
“Everyone please lift him up in prayer and tell him now while he’s alive just how meaningful he’s been to your life. Don’t wait until he passes to do that.”
'Biden had cancer while he was President'
Oncologist Dr Zeke Emanuel told MSNBC that Biden likely had cancer when he first assumed office in 2021, stating, “He had it while he was President.” Emanuel added that the disease “did not develop in the last 100, 200 days.”
Despite Biden’s team stating his diagnosis was made shortly after a small nodule was found, Emanuel and other experts believe the cancer had likely been present for years. They said prostate cancer is one of the easiest cancers to detect early through regular blood tests, particularly in men over 50.
“It is inconceivable that this was not being followed before he left the Presidency,” said Dr Howie Forman of Yale University. He noted that Biden’s prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels would likely have been abnormal for some time.
Biden was given a Gleason score of 9 and a Grade Group of 5, both indicators of a highly aggressive and advanced cancer.
The White House showed sympathy after Biden’s diagnosis, but Donald Trump Jr raised questions about the timing. He shared a post from Dr Steven Quay, pointing out that prostate cancer is usually easy to catch early.
