The Malaysian Royal Police arrested 36 Bangladesh nationals this week on charges of being involved in a "radical militant movement" founded on extremist beliefs and terror ideology. "The Special Branch team's intelligence and coordinated action revealed that this group brought in extremist beliefs based on the Islamic State (IS) ideology into the country," said Malaysian home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail in a statement Friday.
The group created recruitment cells within their community, and were embroiled in collecting funds for terror activities, indoctrination and other subversive acts, he said. Five of those arrested are directly incriminated under the Penal Code's Chapter VIA of this country's law, which covers offences relating to terrorism.
