Amid a major controversy over Indian-origin FBI director Kash Patel attending side activities more than his office, Patel on Tuesday made an X post revealing what he did this weekend. Patel made no reference to the controversy, said he and his team were at the Threat Screening Center this weekend.
"One of the first things we did when I was sworn in as Director was to strengthen the TSC's focus on border security, in addition to growing threats abroad. Our team has done tremendous work in this area," Kash Patel wrote as he asked people to apply for FBI jobs.
Kash Patel accused of attending nightclubs more than FBI headquarters, using FBI jets for private trips
There's an overall dissatisfaction towards Kash Patel even among the MAGA supporters as Patel did not reveal Epstein list -- the list of the influential people who were associated with sex offender Epstein, his private island.
Former FBI counter-intelligence official Frank Figliuzzi said things are berserk at the FBI headquarters as nobody is clued in about the day-to-day activities. Patel is spotted more at nightclubs and he also works from his Las Vegas home.
He doesn't even take a daily briefing from his office, Figliuzzi said adding that he reduced the number to two briefings per week.
"People don't know what's happening from day to day. There's also been reporting, I believe from the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, that Patel spent a lot of his time at his home in Las Vegas -- he's been sort of working remotely for at least part of the week," Figliuzzi said.
Senate Democrats have asked the US Government Accountability Office to review Patel's personal travel on government aircraft. GAO, however, said it has not yet received a formal request from Congress. According to their allegations, Patel has been using FBI jets to attend his private trips -- to attend matches, to visit his girlfriend.
