KOLKATA: Protesting sexual harassment at Kolkata's Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI), students gheraoed the institute's director Monday, raising suspicion about institute authorities' highhandedness, reports Priyanka Dasgupta. Last Wednesday, SRFTI's internal complaints committee ( ICC ) submitted a preliminary probe report on charges levelled by a former faculty member against a SRFTI official. Two days later, award-winning director Putul Mahmood-under whose chair ICC declared three faculty members guilty during 2016-2017-resigned from SRFTI. Students suspect Putul was forced to resign to send a message to the current ICC about the potential consequences of indicting the accused official.
