NEW DELHI: Indian Army launched strikes at terrorist infrastructure on Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people. Terming it " Operation Sindoor ", it said that the actions were "focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature."
"These steps come in the wake of the barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were murdered. We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable," the government said in a press statement.
Meanwhile, Pakistan violated the ceasefire agreement by launching artillery fire in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bhimber Gali, just hours after India conducted precision strikes under ‘Operation Sindoor,’ prompting an ‘appropriate’ response from the Indian Army.
"Pakistan again violates the Ceasefire Agreement by firing artillery in Bhimber Gali in the Poonch-Rajouri area. Indian Army is responding appropriately in a calibrated manner," Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADG PI) said in a post on X.
