Fedor Emelianenko ’s failed negotiations to join the UFC owed its reasons to many. The fighter believed that the UFC President Dana White never really respected him, as stated in a pre-fight interview of Bellator 269 in October 2021 and failed negotiations between the parties to reach a common ground of agreement formed the primary reason of the fighter never being signed to the UFC. However, Joe Rogan , in his recent podcast, talked about how Russian goons played a major role in the unsuccessful negotiations between the UFC and the Russian fighter. This has instigated fan reactions that resulted in dragging the US president, Donald Trump , into the controversy as well.
UFC commentator Joe Rogan commented on Russian “dangerous people” being the main reason behind failed negotiations between Fedor Emelianenko and UFCFedor Emelianenko remained one of the greatest fighters in the world of MMA who have never been a part of the UFC. He has secured wins over fighters like Chael Sonnen, Frank Mir, Pedro Rizzo and other notable ones. Despite his record of 40-7-0, the fighter never made it to the most prestigious promotion in the world of MMA.
In a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience with Ilia Topuria, the UFC commentator revealed the real reason behind the failed negotiations with the fighter.
"Fedor was controlled by some Russian people, that were very rough men, in a word. Gangster-type characters. They had a bunch of negotiations with the UFC, but they had very unreasonable demands. They wanted part of the promotion, they wanted to own a piece of everything. They wanted a lot.” the commentator continued, “They knew that with Fedor, they had their golden ticket. And they wanted to play it out as much as possible.”
“Negotiations were very intense and very confrontational. They got so bad that Dana White had to increase his security. It got really heavy. These were dangerous people. I can tell you more off-air"
The claims, as made by Rogan, however were not well received by the fans. One of them wrote, “They call them "dangerous people" only when they're Russians or Muslims... yet, Dana & Joe will praise & hang out with Donald Trump, who's killed more people worldwide than pretty much every other person on Earth”
Another one wrote, “Often, their claims seem inflated”
“Dana never lies right?”
“And now Dana is s**king off the Russians alongside Trump.”

Emelianenko’s final bout of his career was against Ryan Bader at Bellator 290. The Russian fighter was defeated in the rematch of their previous bout at Bellator 214. Despite the fact that Dana White admitted about planning a major fight for the Russian fighter upon his entry in the UFC, the plan never really saw the light of the day and it ended being just a dream.
