While China’s pressure game with full-court marking made it tough for Indian forwards to find regular baskets, their shooting guards displayed a 53% conversion from beyond the arc. China converted 15 of their 28 threepointers, but the 76th-ranked Indian cagers were able to make just six of 20 attempts. After winning the battle of rebounds 43-25, China scored 24 points off the 12 turnovers India committed.
Speaking with TOI, India’s American coach Scott Flemming said, “They made us pay for our lapses. They are a team that is ahead of us in experience and development. They had many players that could knock down the 3-point shot. We hope to be where they are in the future. Today was a good lesson for us.”
RESULT:
China (Mingxuan Hu 17, Jiayi Zhao 17) bt India (Arvind Muttu Krishan 16, Sahaij Sekhon 14, Pranav Prince 14, Harsh Dagar 8, Princepal Singh 8) 100-69 (29-14, 24-17, 22-17, 25-21).
