NEW DELHI: Ashish Nehra , known for his playful interactions with former teammates, surprised everyone by calling Abhishek Porel out of the nets during a practice session ahead of Gujarat Titans ' IPL 2025 encounter against Delhi Capitals at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Nehra humorously instructed Porel, "Ye Abishek Porel hai na? Aja bhai, last ball. (Isn't it Abishek Porel? Come out, brother) Done! Time up. Well done, good shot, now come out," prompting laughter from Axar Patel, who tried to even pull Nehra out of the scene, and Delhi coach Hemang Badani .
Such interventions by an opposition coach are rare but typical of Nehra's presence on the field.

Currently, the Delhi Capitals lead the standings with 10 points from six matches, closely followed by Gujarat Titans with eight points from the same number of games.
Delhi's confidence is high following their thrilling Super Over win against the Rajasthan Royals, and they aim to maintain their momentum against Gujarat.
Mitchell Starc has been pivotal for Delhi, delivering three overs of precise yorkers, including a tense Super Over that shifted the game's outcome. After opting out of the Champions Trophy to recharge post the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Starc has returned to the IPL in top form.
With 10 wickets at an economy rate just above 10, Starc leads Delhi's pace attack alongside Mukesh Kumar and Mohit Sharma.
His performance against Gujarat's top order, including captain Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler, will be crucial in the upcoming match.
