Teacher builds a home for his wife and it is a Taj Mahal replica!

They say love can make a man do anything under the sun. It can make a man a poet, make him cross oceans to reach his beloved, make him build a monument in the memory of his love and so on. Well, love can also make a man who is a school teacher build a home in a monument for his wife.

Yes, Anand Prakash Chouksey , a 52-year-old school teacher in the Burhanpur city of Madhya Pradesh built a home that is a replica of the Taj Mahal for his wife, Manjusha, also a school teacher. Inspired by the world's most famous symbol of love and devotion, Chouksey built a four-bedroom Taj Mahal for his wife of twenty-seven years.


The home, which is one-third the size of the real Taj Mahal, took three years to make and features a 29-foot-high dome and was constructed from the Makrana marble, the same marble that was used to build the Taj Mahal. The house sits inside Chouksey's 50-acre property which also has a hospital and is visited by many tourists who wish to see the marvel. Apart from the four bedrooms, it also has a library and meditation room.

In an interview with BBC, Chouksey shared that he spent about 20M rupees to build the house. He also added that the process of construction of the house included many trips to Agra with his wife so that they could study various aspects of the monument. "We also used a lot of 3D images of the Taj Mahal on the internet to build our own," he added.

Additionally, he detailed that the interiors of the house were not strictly Islamic but were infused with contemporary influences, such as the sofas and curtains. He also plans to place an Indian flag atop the house and incorporate symbols of major Indian religions on the surrounding minarets to echo a message of unity and peace. "There is a lot of hate around, but love solves all problems. The Taj Mahal is a symbol of love, and we want to spread that message," he added.
