India ranks second globally in generative AI adoption: Report

Send Push
India is becoming a global leader in adopting Generative AI platforms, ranking second only to the US, according to a SimilarWeb report titled 'Gen AI in Consumer Applications.'

"India is leading the way (second only to the US) in adopting various GenAI platforms, especially in assistant and content editing use cases," the report stated.

The report shows that India accounts for 12 per cent of global AI usage in content editing, making it a key player in adopting AI for content-related tasks.

India also ranks third globally in using AI for productivity tools and education, with more users turning to AI platforms to improve efficiency and learning experiences.

Additionally, the country currently holds over a 10 per cent share in several AI use cases, showing an active user base across multiple areas.

However, the report mentioned that Indian audiences are slower to adopt AI-powered companion apps, which suggests there’s potential for localized solutions with better monetization strategies to attract more users.

While AI-powered apps for education are popular in India, personal assistant apps are less widely used. This gap shows growth potential if localized AI solutions and new monetization methods are developed.

The report also mentioned that AI-powered travel and commerce apps are starting to gain attention and are expected to grow as AI solutions expand beyond content editing and education.
