New Delhi: Soon, you won’t have to spend an entire day travelling to enjoy a peaceful evening in Dehradun, Uttarakhand's capital, away from the bustling roads of Delhi. The construction of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is progressing rapidly, and this greenfield expressway is expected to be operational by December.With a total project cost of approximately Rs 14,285 crore, the ’s construction is anticipated to be completed by November. After a safety audit scheduled for the end of November, the expressway is set to open for traffic in December.
264 km Journey in Just 2.5 HoursOnce completed, commuters from Delhi can start their journey from Akshardham, covering the 264 km stretch to Dehradun in just 2.5 hours. A unique feature of the route is a 12 km elevated wildlife corridor, which passes over dense forests, offering views of wild animals as it traverses Rajaji National Park. 19 km elevated road in DelhiThe expressway will begin at Akshardham and connect to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE). Of the 32 km access-controlled stretch, 19 km will be elevated. Under this elevated section, a 6-lane road will help manage Delhi’s traffic. Those travelling from Uttar Pradesh will have an entry point near Mandola, with additional access at Vijay Vihar and 5 Pushta Road.In another news, the Delhi Development Authority's (DDA) ambitious project is nearing completion, with full operations expected by December 2024. The project, with an estimated cost of Rs 3,600 crore, is being executed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to enhance connectivity and ease traffic congestion in Delhi and neighbouring states. Stretching over a total length of 75.71 kilometres, the project covers 54.21 kilometres within Delhi and 21.50 kilometres extending into Haryana.Designed as Delhi's third Ring Road, the UER-II consists of five packages—three within Delhi and two in Haryana. Once operational, it will link NH-44 in North Delhi to NH-48 in South Delhi, passing through areas like Bawana, Narela-Kanjhawala, Mundka, and Dwarka, while also connecting to Sonepat and Gurugram in Haryana. The project will also integrate with the Eastern and Western peripheral expressways, reducing traffic congestion and pollution in Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.You may also like
