is quickly approaching and many keen will be dusting off their BBQs. With the warm weather and longer days coming, it's the perfect time to think about getting your BBQ grilling once again.
The first BBQ of the year often needs a bit more . While scrubbing off debris with a stiff brush and baking soda often works effectively, an expert has revealed that a twist of coffee can also work wonders to clean off your BBQ.
Rebecca Smith, buyer at home and garden furniture experts , recommends soaking your grill grates or removable parts in a cup of brewed coffee. It works to clean your BBQ as the acid in the coffee disolves the burnt-on food.
You can also create a paste from coffee grounds and water before scrubbing it onto the grill grates. Experts also suggest combining coffee grounds with baking soda for extra cleaning power.
Rebecca said: "For a change of pace, consider using a handheld steamer if you have one. Direct steam can soften up grime without any scrubbing at all.
"Some grillers even swear by a quick blast with a pressure washer (on a low setting) to knock off stubborn buildup. And if you're really in a pinch, a few drops of espresso machine cleaner mixed with water might just surprise you with its degreasing power."
More generally, people are advised to check for any loose or damaged parts before using their BBQ this year. Experts suggest checking burners, gas lines (if it's a gas grill), and the grill body itself.
They say that even a little wobble can cause a large hazard. You should tighten screws, replace worn-out parts, and test the grill in a safe spot.
Rebecca said: "And once your grill is clean and rust-free, keep it that way (and thank yourself later!). After every session, take a few minutes to brush off the grates. And don't skip covering your grill with a waterproof cover, you never know when that dust and damp can sneak in.
"Grill's ready? Great. Time to unleash those flames, cook that steak, and let the good times roll, because nothing says "spring" like BBQ and a perfect sunset!"
