Tottenham transfer plans take fresh twist as Man City stance on Savinho emerges

Tottenham's transfer strategy faces yet another setback as they look to bounce back from seemingly losing out on a target to bitter rivals Arsenal. Spurs had been frontrunners in the pursuit of Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, with negotiations underway between the clubs for the England ace.

But Wednesday brought news that Arsenal had dramatically intensified their interest in Eze, suddenly emerging as overwhelming favourites to secure his signature imminently. Consequently, Tottenham appear destined to shift focus towards alternative targets following another transfer disappointment.

Earlier this summer saw Spurs denied Morgan Gibbs-White's services when the Nottingham Forest midfielder penned fresh terms at the City Ground, reports football.london. Manchester City star Savinho has now emerged as a potential solution for Tottenham's attacking reinforcement needs.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has reported that Tottenham are "pushing" for Savinho's signature, with Spurs boss Thomas Frank eager to bring the Brazilian star to North London. However, City are reported to remain resolute in their determination to keep Savinho at the Etihad Stadium, currently blocking any potential departure.

Spurs maintain optimism that City will eventually sanction Savinho's exit, paving the way for his switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Tottenham are scouring the transfer market for additional forward players following James Maddison's pre-season injury setback.

Maddison suffered an ACL injury during the pre-season tour of the Far East and, after undergoing surgery, is anticipated to spend most of the seasoon the sidelines in recovery. Eze and Gibbs-White have been viewed as potential forward options for Spurs, but now the club are said to be looking at alternative options.

Spurs have already signed Mohammed Kudus from West Ham earlier this summer as they looked to strengthen their forward options. It remains to be seen if a deal for Savinho will be possible, with Tottenham having until September 1 to complete their transfer business.

Tottenham and Man City will go head-to-head in the Premier League this weekend when they meet at the Etihad on Saturday lunchtime.
