Prince Harry's hopes of slipping back into royal duties have been slapped down by palace insiders. Despite whispers from his camp that his charity trip and brief meeting with King Charles marked a "reset", sources insist that the Duke of Sussex will never be welcomed as a "half-in, half-out" royal.
Talk of Harry being "back into the royal fold" and easing Prince William's workload was dismissed as "wide of the mark", with it being pointed out that the monarchy's strength lies in the King and his heir. One source told the Daily Mail Harry's tea-and-cake chat with his father was hardly "the Treaty of Versailles". Instead of reconciliation, officials see his team's glossy spin as further eroding trust. For now, Harry's role remains what it has been since 2020 - outsider, visitor, and very much on the fringe.
The Duke of Sussex is now reportedly planning to return to the UK "four or five times a year" for "public events".
