A spokesman for the couple reportedly tried to downplay the incident, saying "they [Sussexes] do not use HRH titles," while sources close to them insisted that Meghan "used her HRH style privately but not for commercial purposes". Although no laws were passed or documents signed to prevent their use, the latest incident flouts the agreement made with Buckingham Palace that they would stop using "Her Royal Highness" and "His Royal Highness" publicly after what was christened Megxit Day on March 31, 2020, when the couple officially stepped down. They still retain the styles, with Harry having had his since birth, but they are essentially held in abeyance, as is the case for the Duke of York, who also no longer uses his HRH style.
Now, sources close to said that the heir to the throne would not "stand for this" when he became King, "Charles has completely lost control. It's apparent that Harry and Meghan have every intention of making his final years a misery, just as he feared they would. She knows he [King Charles] won't do anything. There is no way King William will stand for this. The titles will simply be removed when he is king. A way will be found."
