Nuno Espirito Santo offers worrying update as meeting planned with Nottingham Forest owner

Nuno Espirito Santo will hold crucial discussions with Evangelos Marinakis regarding his Nottingham Forest future next week. However, the Reds owner has maintained their relationship remains 'solid' just seven days after Nuno cast doubt over his position by declaring "where there's smoke, there's fire" amid rumours he faced the axe.

Nuno, who maintains his squad have remained unaffected by the 'noise' surrounding off-field tensions that also involve transfer chief Edu, claims he feels 'relaxed' about his circumstances at the City Ground. Marinakis, speaking after Forest's favourable Europa League draw which includes a repeat of the 1979 European Cup final against Malmo, sought to dismiss any suggestion of a breakdown in relations.

"Everything is solid. We all want Nottingham to succeed. We are here in the good days but we are even closer in the difficult days, so personally I don't see a problem," said Marinakis.

"We are all together, united, and we'll make some corrective actions and everything will be smooth and ready to go."

Moments after delivering that interview, Nuno fell just short of confirming he would stay in his post beyond the international break.

"I think so," he said. "I don't know how to answer that but I think so."

The pair had a brief telephone conversation last week and arranged to examine the club's strategy and ambitions once tomorrow's clash against West Ham concludes.

"The president is a busy man," stated Nuno. "We need to have a talk about the future of the club, how we should address (the future) after the transfer market.

"We want the same thing, what's best for Forest."

Nuno hinted at no improvement in relations with Edu, though, responding with a simple 'no' when questioned if he had conversed with the ex-Arsenal sporting director.

He also expressed his belief that none of the recent signings, including Douglas Luiz and Omari Hutchinson, are ready to start against West Ham.
