During Donald Trump's meeting with Sir Keir Starmer, the US President said it is "unlikely" his website would be censored when asked if the UK's Online Safety Act would affect it. "I cannot imagine him (Starmer) censoring Truth Social," Trump told reporters in Scotland.
This morning's GB News showed footage of reporters asking the two world leaders questions about free speech. Someone asked Trump: "There are new powers here to censor your site. Is that OK?" Trump explained, "I don't think he is going to censor my site because I say only good things."
He turned to Starmer and asked: "Will you please censor my site?" But Starmer replied with a four-word response: "We're not censoring anyone."
"We've got some measures which are there to protect children, in particular, from sites like suicide sites," the UK Prime Minister added. "We've had too many cases in the United Kingdom of young children taking their own lives.
"When you look at their social media, they've been accessing sites which talk about suicide and encouraging, if you like, children down that road, and that is what we want to stop." The pair have been taking questions at Trump's Turnberry golf resort during his five-day visit to the UK.
Trump later took aim at London's Mayor Sadiq Khan, telling reporters: "I'm not a fan of your mayor, I think he's done a terrible job, the mayor of London. He's a nasty person!"
Starmer had to interject, saying: "Now, he's a friend of mine, actually." But Trump added: "I think he's done a terrible job, actually."
Starmer took it upon himself to address the Gaza crisis, telling the American leader: "We have to get to a ceasefire, and we need humanitarian aid." Trump replied, "It's great to know you feel the same way that I do. On three occasions, it seemed like there would be a ceasefire."
