A tragic took place at an apartment in Shoreline, when a four-year-old girl lost her life while playing with her siblings.

Mi'layah Marie had been playing on her mum's bed when she lost her balance and tragically fell out the open window nearby.

The young girl's mother, Najaha Chancellor, discussed how the event unfolded explaining that she had been watching Mi'layah and her three siblings when one of the children innocently opened her bedroom window.

After Mi'layah lost her balance while jumping on her mum's bed, the girl then fell into the screen which had been covering the window which tragically gave way from the girl's weight.

A Medical Examiner ruled the girl's cause of death being from blunt force trauma caused by the fall.

CPR was attempted by a Good Samaritan prior to first responders arriving at the scene.

Sadly though the girl was too badly injured and passed away at the hospital.

A witness to the scene, Andre Alexander, spoke to KIRO and said: "I went around the back after I heard someone screaming.

"When I went back there, I seen the young lady, the little girl had fell out the window."

Alexander added: "There's a young man who's a real hero. This young man did over four and a half minutes of CPR by himself."

Najaha Chancellor explained to KIRO how Mi'layah had "bumped into it, the screen fell off and she went down".

She added: "'As a mother, it's your job. It's your job to protect your children at all costs.

"'I'm just trying to keep it together as any mother would try to do.

"I still have three other kids to show I have to be strong for. So crying is going to make kids even more emotional."

A has been set up in her honour where Mi'layah was described as "a beautiful, precious, and bubbly soul."

The page read: "She will forever be in our hearts and minds. Anyone that knew Mi'layah knew that she was a full character that loved to show you her love.

"Our hearts will be forever broken due to her loss but she is with her father in peace."
