GB News reporter Ben Leo was called a "t**t" and an "a**hole" by Donald Trump protestors outside the US consulate in Edinburgh, Scotland. The presenter, who hosts on weekends from 9pm-11pm on Ben Leo Tonight and on Britain's Newsrooms on Fridays, shared updates from the Trump protest on his X page. Leo was faced with abusive comments and chants from the crowd, as he wrote: "I have been called out for being with @GBNEWS.
"Moments after "death death to the IDF", the woman on the mic then leads a chant against 'racist Ben Leo from GB News'. I thought this was meant to be a peaceful protest?" One video shared Leo being confronted by several protesters, with the first one saying to him "was this protest not peaceful?" Ben replied: "Well there was a chant of Death, death to the IDF, which police are looking into now," as he began listing the names he had been called by the people around him.
The protester told him: "I called you a t**t," as Ben replied: "Well that's not very nice is it?"
Another woman called Ben "evil", as Ben swiftly moved away from her, telling her she was "starting to become aggressive".
A third man called him an "a**hole" to which Ben asked him "what have I done for you to call me that," with the man replying "it's just the way you are... smirking," before asking Ben to leave the protest.
The protest was initially against Donald Trump during his visit to Scotland this weekend, but Leo shared videos to tell his followers that it had turned into a Palestine protest.
Along with videos showing a large crowd holding Palestine flags, he penned: "This has turned into a Palestine protest. From the river to the sea being chanted outside the US consulate in Edinburgh."
He added: "A few Palestine flags, Extinction Rebellion flags and 'migrants welcome' signs at the Edinburgh Trump protest. It's like an excuse just to protest *something* - if not particularly anything."
He then tagged Police Scotland as he said: "They're now chanting 'death death to the IDF' outside the US Consulate in Edinburgh. Meant to be a Trump protest. What you sayin' @PoliceScotland?
