If your energy bills are still creeping up despite the summer being here and the heating being off, don't panic. There are a couple of simple switches you can make that will help save you money all year, and you don't need to shiver through the winter for them
Experts at Grant Store have shared their top tips for saving money on bills, and the first one is to ditch the oven. With the summer heat beating down, you're likely using the oven less anyway, but if you choose to swap it for the air fryer, you'll save even more. The experts said: "With heavy use kitchen appliances like ovens and kettles leading the charge in driving up electricity bills, making simple swaps, such as using an air fryer for daily cooking, households can slash annual costs by half.
"Similarly, taking a mindful approach to boiling the kettle, utilising only the necessary amount of water, can shave off £30 from an annual bill of £60."
Another money saving tip is to be mindful of how you're using appliances like the washing machine and dryer.
They said: "Efficient laundry habits can make a big dent in energy bills. Waiting for a full washing machine load before hitting start potentially halves yearly expenses from £120 to £60."
When it comes to showering, simply cutting your shower time down from ten minutes to five can save you a lot.
"Having a 10-minute shower with electric heating can contribute to as much as 50p per day in energy costs, a figure that quickly accumulates into a considerable portion of monthly electricity bills.
"Taking shorter showers, averaging around five minutes, can result in substantial savings, cutting gas and electricity costs by approximately £130 per year."
