6 flowers you should plant before the end of October for 'splendid floral display'

The more spring bulbs we plant this month the more flowers next springtime. My favourite planting technique is the Spring Bulb Lasagne, the method gives a continuous flow of spring flowers between March and May in your garden.

The Spring Bulb Lasagne planting method is a superb way of creating a continuous spring flower display in pots, tubs, containers, beds and borders. The aim is to have flowers popping up all springtime. It's time to plant Snowdrops, Crocuses, Hyacinth, Daffodils, Alliums and Tulips.

So how do I create a Spring Bulb Lasagne? Let me give you an example. If you plant Tulips at the base of a pot, add a layer of compost, then plant Daffodil bulbs, add a layer of compost, then plant Crocus corms and then cover those to the top of your pot then you have a Spring Bulb Lasagne.

These three layers of spring bulbs will give you a continuous flow of flowers from March through to May. Once the flower display is over, you can leave the bulbs in for years to come or redo the pots each autumn with other arrangements of spring bulbs.

You can use this Spring Bulb Lasagne planting method in your garden. The more pots, containers, planters, beds and borders that contain Spring bulbs the more splendid the floral display will be, so this month is all about spring bulbs in the ground.
