The solution to the TikTok dispute between the US and China is near. Both countries have agreed to continue TikTok in the US. This deal has been decided in Madrid and will be finalized in the meeting between Trump and Xi Jinping on Friday. Keeping American security in mind, this agreement has been described as fair for both countries.
The long dispute between the US and China over TikTok is now going to be resolved soon. On Monday, the US government said that due to the efforts and pressure of President Donald Trump, both countries have agreed to continue TikTok in the US. According to media reports, Treasury Secretary Scott Besant said that this deal has been finalised in Madrid, Spain. Now it will be finalised in the meeting between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday. Besant clarified that the security of America has been taken care of in this deal and it is right and fair for both the countries.
Trump also wrote on Truth Social, "A deal was reached on a company that the youth of our country wanted to save." He praised the trade meeting between the US, the European Union and China and said that this meeting was "very good". Trump said that he will talk to Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday. Although he has not named TikTok in this post, his statement is being linked to this app.
Why did the controversy happen? This controversy started due to the law which was made by former President Joe Biden. Under this law, if any app is owned by a Chinese company, then it can be closed in America. On this basis, America legally banned the famous TikTok app of Chinese company ByteDance on 19 January 2025. However, this app is still operating in America and the ban has not been implemented yet. But a few months ago, the demand for a complete ban on TikTok had intensified. After this, it was said that TikTok will have to sell the company to an American person to continue working in America, otherwise the app will be banned. After this, President Trump extended the ban date thrice. Now the last date was set as 17 September, but there is talk of a deal before that.
TikTok helped TrumpWhen Trump first became the President of the United States, he wanted to impose a strict ban on TikTok, but he could not do so. Later Biden gave legal form to this matter. As the 2024 elections came closer, Trump changed his mind. He believed that TikTok had helped him in his election campaign, so now he adopted a soft attitude towards it. During the election campaign, Trump had said that he would save TikTok from being banned.
Last month too, Trump had said that American customers are lining up to buy TikTok and he can extend the deadline. But now in his latest statement, he seemed a little vague on this matter. Talking to reporters in New Jersey, Trump said, "I may or may not extend the deadline... We are talking about TikTok. We can let it shut down... I don't know. It depends on China. It doesn't matter much. I would like to save it for children because they like it."
The final decision will be made on FridayLet us tell you that American and Chinese representatives were discussing many issues including trade for several days in Madrid, the capital of Spain. During this time, an agreement was also reached regarding TikTok. Now it will be finalized in the meeting between Trump and Xi Jinping on Friday. Trump himself gave this news on his social media and said that this deal is a matter of happiness for the youth of America.
