Bone Tumor: Problems like persistent pain, swelling or lump in the bone can sometimes be a sign of bone tumor. Timely identification and proper treatment can make it easier to deal with this serious disease.
Bone tumor is no longer a rare disease. Earlier it was rarely heard of, but now this problem is seen in people of all ages. Sometimes it grows silently without giving many symptoms, and by the time it is detected, it is too late.
Whenever someone feels pain, swelling or a lump in the bone, it is often ignored considering it to be an injury or fatigue. But according to experts, this can be a sign of bone tumor. Well-known doctors say that tumor in the bone is an abnormal growth of cells, which emerges by forming a lump.
There are two types of bone tumors
Benign: Such tumors are not life-threatening and grow slowly.
And the second one is malignant; these tumors grow rapidly and can spread to other parts of the body, due to which they take the form of cancer.
Doctors say that this disease can affect children, young people and the elderly. Benign tumors are often seen in children, while in the elderly it can spread to the bones from another cancer (such as breast or prostate). If someone has previously taken radiation therapy or has a history of cancer in the family, the risk increases even more.
If we talk about the symptoms of a tumor:
Pain or swelling in the bone, increasing pain at night, lump or hardness in one place, bone fracture without injury. Do not take these symptoms lightly and consult a doctor immediately.
The biggest thing is that earlier bone cancer was treated by cutting off the body part, but now with the help of limb salvage surgery, the tumor can be removed and that body part can be saved. Apart from this, modern techniques like chemotherapy, radiation, cryotherapy are also available now.
