Wayne Bridge shows off impressive £7,000 hair transplant results after 'covering' his baldness

has revealed the impressive transformation following his . The former footballer, 44, admitted he had hid his balding appearance for years, but decided to "boost his confidence" by getting the procedure.

And he revealed his wife, former The Saturdays songstress , was firmly in support of his decision. Wayne, confessed he underwent the process nine months ago. It saw him have over 4,000 hairs implanted in to the thinning areas of his scalp.

Sharing his new look, Wayne admitted he was "buzzing" with the results. He confessed it has been a huge boost to his confidence as he opened up on how the process went.

He said: "It's like I have got a full head of hair again and the transformation is pretty unbelievable. When I look at the before and after pictures it is pretty amazing and it has done so much for my self-confidence."

The former sports star admitted he first started losing his hair around 10 years ago. He revealed he had been always trying to hide his baldness before taking the plunge and having a transplant in September.

"I used to move it around to cover it up," he went on. "I didn't get a lot of banter about it from mates because I was so good at hiding it.

"I work in the media and knew that I would really benefit from getting it sorted. You feel so much more confident when your hair looks good."

Wayne revealed his hair is "so much thicker now" and admits the change allows him to style his hair differently - and quicker. He said: "Before I was always conscious of how my hair looked and it used to take me a lot longer to get ready."

Speaking of the support he has received from wife Frankie, Wayne went on: "I told Frankie what I was doing and she was really supportive. She said 'go for it' and supports anything that makes me feel better about myself."

Wayne opted for the surgery to take place as DHI Global in the UK after saying the techniques used limited downtime. "I had the surgery in the morning and was back home later that day," he said.

"I was so chilled during the surgery that I fell asleep. There was no swelling and I chilled for a couple of days at home while I recovered."

And Wayne revealed that, while it takes up to a year to grow back fully, he has noticed such a huge difference in the nine months since the procedure. Wayne also praised fellow former footballers and for also going public with their procedures.

He admitted that more big names being open about their treatments can only help but to show men it's "no big deal".

A spokesperson for DHI Global further explained Wayne's treatment, saying: "We increased the density in Wayne's hair on his hairline and the top of his scalp. We have filled in the gaps to make him look younger and improve his body confidence.

"We treat a lot of high profile patients such as Wayne who love to stay fit and look good. We are delighted that he is so happy with the results."
