Having gone toe-to-toe with Scheffler multiple times, Lowry reminisced over the final round of the 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill - a prime display of Scheffler's talent - where he soared to clinch the win by five strokes on a course known for its rigor.

In an interview with Lowry offered his true thoughts on Scheffler when he said: "He's impressively unimpressive. I remember that final round, he shot 66 around an unbelievably tough course to win by five.

"Because I hadn't been one bit impressed watching him play. Now, if that was Rory (McIlroy), you'd be like, 'Oh my God!' But you watch Scottie do it, and it doesn't look anything.

"He hits it in the right place, holes the putt, and before you know it, he's shot 66. I don't know; maybe it's the way he moves his feet, but I think he has the best golfing brain, bar none."

Lowry's comments were a peep into his honest admiration for Scheffler. He also showed his true colours when asked about Netflix's 'Full Swing' series, which portrayed Scheffler as an individual who has become calm and less prone to anger. The Irishman claimed to have witnessed many fiery moments that did not make the final cut.

Lowry referred to an episode in which Scheffler's caddie, Ted Scott, claimed he agreed to work with him only if the golfer could rein in his fiery outbursts. The documentary series suggests Scheffler had a turnaround in his behaviour. Still, Lowry begs to differ, pointing out how the World No.1 hammered his bag in annoyance at a recent event in Phoenix.

Lowry said: "Did you see Scottie a few weeks ago in Phoenix? He was slamming his bag. So it's easy saying all that when you're winning seven times a year and winning gold medals."

The Irishman also defended Rory McIlroy, claiming the Northern Irishman can go on to win many more majors if he is able to end his long 11-year drought. Lowry said: "He [McIlroy] wants to win one more. Well, he wants to win way more, but my guess is that one more leads to way more.

"He's strong. Tough. He'll give himself 10 more chances to win majors. It's just whether he does it or not."

Lowry has also enjoyed a strong beginning to the season despite not yet winning any titles. He has achieved five consecutive cuts and landed in the top 10 at both the Arnold Palmer Invitational and Valspar Championship, following his runner-up position at Pebble Beach.
