People We Meet on Vacation film trailer drops as Netflix fans in tears over 'perfect chemistry'

People We Meet On Vacation is making its way to Netflix and fans already “invested”.

Netflix has released the long awaited trailer for People We Meet On Vacation today, Tuesday, September 30, bringing to life author Henry’s emotional novel.

Starring My Lady Jane actress Emily Balder and The Hunger Games’ Tom Blyth, the novel-turned-book follows the lives of “free-spirited Poppy and buttoned-up Alex”.

Every summer for almost 10 years, they have travelled together but after years of not speaking, they are unexpectedly united by another trip that sees them confront their “unspoken feelings for one another”.

The trailer kicks off with Poppy in the airport celebrating to Robyn’s Dancing On My Own as her suitcase is the first to arrive.

She quickly stops dancing though when she realises Alex is behind her, much to her embarrassment.

The next clip shows the pair hopping off a coach with Alex reading from a guide which states for them to follow an itinerary but much to his horror, she says they should just “wing it”.

A series of clips of Alex and Poppy enjoying their travels together then plays out, littered with cute moments where they look deeply into each other’s eyes.

The music is abruptly interrupted though when someone asks them: “Are you guys like a thing?”, with the duo simultaneously insisting that they were “just friends”.

By the way they smile though as Poppy walks into a room in a stunning yellow dress, it seems very unlikely that they’ll be staying “just friends” for very long.

Fans have been flocking to X, formerly Twitter, and YouTube ’s comments section ever since to express their excitement at the upcoming romantic film.

Someone shared: “I’ve only been waiting years for this”, as a second stated: “Already best romcom of the year!”

A fellow Netflix subscriber excitedly posted: “Perfect pick for a cozy movie night in January!”

Meanwhile, another said “the chemistry is perfect” and another user said: “I could cry with excitement.”

This fan wasn’t alone though in her emotional response with someone else writing: “I’m going crazy. I’m actually crying. January 9th is too far.”

As well as Blyth and Balder, People We Meet On Vacation is set to star numerous other familiar faces.

This includes Euphoria actor Lukas Gage, The Good Place’s Jameela Jamil, Saturday Night Live star Molly Shannon and Succession actor Alan Ruck.

People We Meet On Vacation premieres on Friday, January 9, 2026, on Netflix.
