Nicole Kidman will be returning as the mysterious guru Masha Dmitrichenko, who invites a fresh group of strangers to partake in a "transformational wellness retreat" nestled in the Austrian Alps.

Over a week-long period, Masha is prepared to go to any lengths to help heal her guests - who slowly uncover their shared connections - and herself.

The official trailer for the second season of Nine Perfect Strangers, which was unveiled on Tuesday, April 29, opens with Masha's willing participants receiving her letters of invitation.

Mark Strong's character, David, then admits: "To be honest, when your invitation came, I nearly threw it out.

"Nine people chosen under bizarre circumstances. For a healing retreat. Feels like a set-up", he adds, to which she responds: "I've brought you here to heal, David."

Some are clued up about Masha's plans, with Christine Baranski's character quipping that she is going to "bleach our brains", while others are under the impression it's merely a wellness retreat.

King Princess' character, sceptical of the experience as her girlfriend urges her to have an "open mind", retorts: "When you keep an open mind, it leaves doors open for terrible things".
