Mia O'Brien's mum has lashed out at "haters" as she launches a new fundraiser, saying her daughter has now been jailed for life after being held in a notorious Dubai prison.
Mum Danielle McKenna initially set up a page on GoFundMe which was taken down and has tried again to raise money to visit her girl in the UAE. Mia, from Huyton, Merseyside, was allegedly caught with 50g on cocaine and handed a 25-year sentence following a one-day hearing. Mia was locked up after police allegedly found £2,500 worth of the Class A drug inside a Dubai apartment in October, according to her mum.
Danielle has now set up a new fundraiser on Christian site GiveSendGo after GoFundMe pulled her appeal.

The original GoFundMe page was taken down because it breached the organisation's rules and the mum later shared her details on Facebook in another fundraising attempt. Last week, Danielle shared her bank details on Facebook and asked people to donate to her directly.
In that post, she wrote: "I am going to set up my own, as they [GoFundMe] are nitpicking at everything." The mum then said direct donations would allow her to keep all the money instead or giving a cut to GoFundMe. She added: "I would just like to thank everyone."
In a change, the mum has set up a new fundraiser on GiveSendGo called the "Mia Rose fund". On the page, the devastated mum said she had not seen her daughter since her arrest in October.
Danielle said: "Hi, as everyone knows by now, Mia has been given a life sentence in Dubai, and is now in central prison. am asking for your help, so that family can get over to Dubai to visit Mia, as we haven’t seen her since last October, and it would also really help with any other fees that we may face a long the way. Even if it’s only a £1 it could help us massively. Thank you so much."
Sharing the link to the new fundraiser on Facebook, the heartbroken mum lashed out at "haters" and her critics, saying: "This is my little girl, my first born and only daughter, I would and will fight for my kids 'till the day I die.
"So to all you haters, let’s hope Karma doesn’t come knocking on your door, your nasty comments do not hurt or affect my life, so you won’t get a reaction or response from me. And if that’s what you're after, maybe get in touch with the Samaritans help line if you're that sad and lonely. Much love to you all."
In the original GoFundMe page, the heartbroken mum wrote: "Mia has been given a life sentence over in Dubai and she is now in central prison. As you can all probably imagine, as her mother I am absolutely devastated. I haven't seen my daughter since last October.
"Mia is only 23 years old and has never done a bad thing in her life. This is a young girl, who went to university to do law, and unfortunately got mixed up in the wrong so-called friends and made a very stupid mistake and is now paying the price."
