Stuart Broad has opened up about his "awkward" meeting with David Beckham at Wimbledon, with the two sporting icons seated near each other in the Royal Box for the first day of action at SW19.
Beckham flew back to the UK after watching Inter Miami, the MLS side he co-owns, get knocked out of the Club World Cup by Atalanta. The 50-year-old was also sporting a cast after undergoing surgery on his wrist, which left Broad unsure how to greet Beckham when they met.
While working for Sky Sports during day one of the second Test between England and India at Edgbaston, Broad was asked by fellow commentator Nasser Hussain about his time at Wimbledon.
"How's your week been Stuart? You been busy? I think I saw you at Wimbledon, in the Royal Box like you do," Hussain quipped. Broad responded: "I was going to say you must have something lined up if you're asking me how my week's been."
Sky then showed a picture of Broad and his fiancee Mollie King at Wimbledon, with the couple sat near Beckham and former England manager Gareth Southgate. And Hussain promptly poked fun at the fact Broad and Beckham were wearing almost the exact same outfit.

"Look at you looking at Becks there, who wears it better - you've copied him haven't you," Hussain joked. However, Broad replied: "I actually think he's copied me! Actually when he walked in to lunch he put his hand out to shake hands and he's had some surgery, he's got a big plaster cast thing on his hand.
"It was a bit awkward because I was sort of like how firm a handshake do I do here, so I ended up sort of just doing a tappy handshake with him which was a little bit awkward! But no, it was a lovely day."
According to the Sun, Beckham had the operation to remove a screw that had been embedded in his forearm and failed to dissolve properly. The original incident is said to have happened while he was playing for England in a friendly against South Africa in 2003.
A source was quoted as saying: "David had been in pain for years but thought nothing of it. He just kept going until, in recent months, it became quite unbearable.
"A routine scan showed that the pin which was meant to have dissolved, hadn't - so he was booked into finally resolve the issue all these years later. Victoria was at his bedside post op and all went well. He's in great spirits."
