Chris Eubank Jr insists rival Billy Joe Saunders inspecting his hand wraps for his clash with Conor Benn won’t unsettle him.
It is understood that Benn has concocted a plan to bring in Saunders to oversee the wrapping of Eubank Jr’s hands ahead of their middleweight showdown at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. A member of a boxer’s team is allowed into the opponent’s dressing room when they are wrapping their hands to ensure they are done within the rules.
Benn is hoping bringing in Saunders, who beat Eubank Jr in 2014 and been involved in plenty of verbal spats with ‘Next Gen’, will rile his rival up just moments before they head out into the ring. But Eubank Jr insists he is not bothered by the ploy if it happens. He said: “You can’t unsettle me. I'm ice cold.

Would I be alright with it? I mean, obviously, I would prefer him not to be there, but if he does it's not gonna affect anything, you know, it's not like he's gonna be talking to me. He'll be in his little corner, watching and I'll get my hands wrapped and then he'll get out of the room. It makes zero difference.”
Eubank Jr has promised to “erase” Benn from over the doping scandal which cancelled their first date in 2022. The British fighter feels he has a duty to remove Benn and his promoter Eddie Hearn from the sport ahead of their middleweight showdown for family legacy tomorrow night.
Benn, 28, provided two adverse analytical findings in VADA tests for the banned substance clomifene which forced their initial date to be cancelled. But after the National Anti-Doping Panel decided there wasn’t enough evidence to proceed on the case, he was given the green light to fight in Britain again following a two-year legal battle.
Eubank Jr has not forgiven Benn and, after saying he only needed to be at 60 per cent in 2022, insists he’s coming in all guns blazing this time for justice. He said: “That was for the first time around before Conor got caught cheating. Now it is preparing to get this kid out of boxing. He should have taken the chance in the first fight when I was underestimating, playing and taking him lightly. That was his best shot but that’s gone because I have a duty to boxing, to the fans, to erase these guys from the picture.”
