US star Billy Porter was forced to pull out of performing at Gok Wan just hours before their performance, due to illness. It remains unknown the nature of their illness but they were set to headline the annual event, leaving festival organisers in a state of chaos.
A statement by organisers read: "We’re sad to share that Billy Porter will no longer be able to perform at Mardi Gras today due to illness. We know many of you were looking forward to their set as we were. Get well soon Billy, love from the Manchester Pride Team."
But all is not lost as organisers managed to secure Little Mix star Leigh-Ann Pinnock to replace Billy. The mum of twins was already scheduled to perform before Billy, so now, on Sunday her slot time will change.
Years & Years lead singer Olly Alexander and Nelly Furtado will also perform. Billy is best known for their roles in a vast array Hollywood blockbusters including Cinderella, The Humbling and also The Hunger Games.

But their acting ability is also seen on stage as they have starred in the production of Kinky Boots and Cabaret.
Due to his career on Broadway they have been awarded a number of Tony Awards and Critics Circle Awards.
Billy made history in 2019 for being the first black gay man to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor for their part in the TV series Pose.
The statement continued: "The good news is, the weekend is still stacked with incredible performances from Ghetto Fabulous, Gok Wan and the brilliant Leigh-Anne, and we can’t wait to see you there."
It added: "With over 120 artists across 6 stages, it’s going to be a weekend full of unforgettable music, performance and energy. "Thanks for your understanding and for being part of the Manchester Pride community. We can’t wait to celebrate with you."
Two years ago Billy revealed that they were having to sell their home amid the writers' strike in Hollywood. Billy explained that they were not receiving any more money from Pose as the final episode had aired.
The actor explained that they are simply freelance worker despite their huge success.
When sked about the strike by PA news agency: "So Pose has been over now since 2021, I don't get no more money from that. I'm supposed to, which is why we're striking."
Billy continued: "I'm supposed to be getting money from that, but I ain't."
