The operation involved B-2 Spirit stealth bombers armed with GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrators, 30,000-pound bombs designed to destroy deep underground targets. According to The New York Times, these aircraft flew from Missouri to Iran and back, mid-air refuelling multiple times over a 37-hour mission.
