Western Railway marked a momentous occasion with the grand celebration of the Bandra Station Mahotsav, paying tribute to the iconic Bandra railway station’s rich heritage, architectural splendour, and cultural legacy. The grand finale took place on July 26, 2025, wrapping up a month-long celebration that began in June, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from both officials and the public.
Commemorative Cover Unveiled by Western Railway and Postal Officials
The highlight of the day was the unveiling of a Special Commemorative Cover to honour Bandra station’s historic significance. The ceremonial unveiling was carried out by Pradeep Kumar, Additional General Manager of Western Railway, in the presence of Pankaj Singh, Divisional Railway Manager of Mumbai Central Division (WR), and Kaiya Arora, Director of Postal Services, Mumbai Region, along with other dignitaries. The commemorative cover served as a symbolic tribute to the enduring legacy of one of Mumbai’s most iconic suburban railway stations.
Cultural Extravaganza and Competitions Captivate Attendees
The day unfolded with a cultural extravaganza that showcased the vibrant spirit of the community. Talent shows featuring captivating dance performances and high-energy karaoke acts kept the festive atmosphere alive. Another major attraction was the prize distribution ceremony for the Art & Craft and Vlog Making competitions. Dignitaries felicitated winners for their creativity, storytelling, and artistic expressions that beautifully captured the essence of Bandra station and its dynamic environment.
“Bandra Station is more than just a transit point—it is a cultural landmark and a symbol of Mumbai’s rail heritage,” said an officials.
Balloons Released in Symbolic Finale
"As the sun set on the final day, hundreds of helium balloons were released into the sky, providing a spectacular and symbolic finale to the Mahotsav—celebrating unity, nostalgia, and creative expression" he stated.

Declared a Grade I heritage structure under the Maharashtra Government's 1995 heritage regulations, Bandra railway station is celebrated for its unique architectural blend of Victorian Gothic and Vernacular styles. "Though the station first opened on November 28, 1864, its iconic heritage building was constructed later in 1888. Today, it continues to serve lakhs of commuters daily, standing as a proud reminder of the city's rich past and dynamic present" further stated an official.
"The Bandra Station Mahotsav was a fitting tribute to this beloved landmark, blending history, community participation, and celebration into a truly unforgettable event" he said.
