Public Works Minister Shivrendra Sinhraje Bhosale has directed officials to take urgent steps to address the persistent traffic congestion in the Chakan Chowk and Chakan MIDC areas. The instructions were issued during a high-level meeting held at Mantralaya to discuss solutions for easing traffic flow in the region.
Proposal to NHAI for Road Between Nashik Phata and Khed
Emphasising the need for immediate action, Minister Bhosale instructed officials to begin the official process of submitting a proposal to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for road construction between Nashik Phata and Khed.
Pothole Repairs Under Different Jurisdictions
He also stated that potholes on roads within the MIDC area must be repaired by MIDC authorities, while the Public Works Department (PWD) should plan the repair of potholes on roads under its jurisdiction.
Opening Additional Lanes for Immediate Relief
As an immediate relief measure, he suggested opening an additional lane on existing roads to improve traffic movement.
Fast-Tracking Ongoing Road Projects
Furthermore, the minister urged MIDC to expedite the completion of its 75-meter-wide road project and asked the NHAI to fast-track its pending works to help decongest traffic in the area.
Regular Updates to Local Representatives
He also directed that local public representatives should be kept informed about the progress of roadworks on the Talegaon–Chakan–Shikrapur route.
Minister’s Final Remarks
“These combined efforts will significantly help in reducing the heavy traffic snarls in one of the state’s most industrially active zones,” Minister Bhosale said.
