Mumbai: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) Lucknow Zonal Unit on Wednesday launched a series of raids across 14 locations in connection with an alleged religious conversion network involving controversial figure Chhangur Baba. The searches, which began around 5 am, are currently underway at multiple sites, including 12 premises in Utaraula, Balrampur (Uttar Pradesh) and two in Mumbai.

The operation is part of a broader investigation into suspected money laundering and illegal financial dealings tied to religious conversion activities. ED officials confirmed that the Mumbai raids are being conducted at the Mahim and Bandra residences of Shahzad Sheikh.

₹2 Cr Transferred To Chhangur Baba's Aide

Preliminary findings have revealed that more than Rs 2 crore was transferred to Shahzad Sheikh’s bank account from an account belonging to Naveen, a known associate of Chhangur Baba. The nature of these transactions has raised red flags for officials, who suspect that the money may have been used to finance illicit conversion activities.

According to sources within the ED, Shahzad Sheikh is under scrutiny for his alleged financial ties with key figures in the conversion network. The funds he received are suspected to be part of a larger financial trail involving unaccounted money.
