Mumbai: Deven Bharti has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Mumbai Police by the Maharashtra government. Bharti, a 1994-batch Indian Police Services (IPS) officer, is currently serving as the Special Commissioner of Police, Mumbai.
Bharti has served at several important postings in Mumbai. In January 2023, he was appointed as Mumbai's first special police commissioner. He was one of the longest serving joint commissioners of police (law & order) of the capital city of Maharashtra.

Bharti also headed the Maharashtra State Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS).
