Wrapped around their nails are pictures and initials of their husbands, love interests, because why not! With nail extensions , women on Karwa Chauth are not only going for the perfect shade but are also flaunting that they are taken, and showing off the person that they are keeping the fast for.

‘IT’S A WAY OF CONFESSING LOVE; SOME FIND IT CHEESY, OTHERS FIND IT INTERESTING’
Nail salon owners share that though the trend is not really new but not many people are aware of it. “It is romantic, a way of confessing love for people. Women get this done for weddings as well. When you tell people about the trend, they get excited and only those who can keep it for weeks, go for it,” says Reena Batra, Founder, Claw Nails.
Nail technician Harshita Sharma points out that the “design is usual ly preferred during Karwa Chauth, weddings and Valentine’s”. “If a picture seems too much, then clients go with just the initials of their partner’s name. But the picture is so small on the nail that many can’t figure out what it is until you look closely. And on Karwa
Chauth, women like to go out all with their makeup, nail art and outfits; this checks on the list,” she says.

THE PDA THAT IS NOT FROWNED UPON
Zakir Khan from Creme Salon says, “Mehendi mein naam likhana purana ho gaya hai.” And the ladies agree. This kind of nail art has given them a new way to publicly display their affection for their better half and partners-to-be.

Bharti Taneja, Founder and Chairman of Alps Beauty Group, tells us, “The trend of digital nail art is an interesting way to show someone that you love them. It is almost like getting a tattoo for a shorter period of time which you can take off after almost a month,” she says. Zakir adds, “This is another way of impressing your partner. They might not do this in the entire year but on Karwa Chauth, they don’t mind getting such nail art done.”
