Actor Abhishek Bachchan once opened up on his first love—yesteryear diva Zeenat Aman. In a chat with director Sajid Khan, the ‘Pa’ star recalled that when his father was busy shooting in Kathmandu for a film called ‘ Mahaan,’ he asked the ‘ Don’ actress at a restaurant, as she was retiring for the night, if he could sleep with her. “I was a child, and the concept of someone sleeping alone was unimaginable for me back then,” he quipped.
Recalling the hilarious incident, he reflected, “She said, ‘Grow up first.”
Zeenat Aman and Amitabh Bachchan have shared screen space for many iconic films, such as ‘Don’, ‘Pukar’, ‘Laawaris’, ‘The Great Gambler’, ‘Dostana’, ‘Pukar’, etc.
Today, Abhishek Bachchan is married to actress Aishwarya Rai. The two have featured in films such as ‘Guru,’ ‘Dhoom 2’, ‘Dhai Akshar Prem Ki,’ etc.
Zeenat Aman, who was hailed as one of the earliest glamour girls of Bollywood, was known for essaying outgoing, Westernised characters on screen. She has been married twice. In 1978, she caused quite the stir by tying the knot with Sanjay Khan, who was already married and the father of four children. However, their marriage barely lasted a year.
In 1985, Aman tied the knot with actor Mazhar Khan, and the two remained together until his passing in 1998. The couple had two sons—Azaan Khan, who went on to become a filmmaker and directed the heist-themed movie Bankster, and Zahaan Khan, who established himself as a music composer. The family continues to reside in Mumbai, maintaining a quiet presence in the city’s artistic circles.
Reflecting on her marriage to Mazhar, Aman later revealed that her years with him were deeply unfulfilling. She shared that Mazhar was uncomfortable with her professional independence and preferred that she dedicate herself entirely to domestic life and their children. Within the first year of marriage, she realized that the relationship had been a mistake, yet she chose to persevere and honor her commitment. Determined to make the marriage work, she spent over a decade attempting to bring stability and peace to their home.
Despite her best efforts, those twelve years turned into a period of emotional struggle and inner turmoil. Aman described how she found herself in a space devoid of happiness, constantly trying to hold together something that brought her no comfort or joy. Each passing year deepened her realization that the relationship offered no hope for change or fulfillment.
Still, she continued to fight for her family, driven by resilience and a sense of duty toward her children. Her story reflected the strength of a woman who endured personal pain silently, hoping that love and persistence could eventually mend what was broken. Yet, as time unfolded, she came to accept that some relationships cannot be salvaged, no matter how much effort one invests.
On the work front, Abhishek was last seen in the drama film ‘Kaalidhar Laapata.’ He will next be seen in the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘King.’
