Receiving news of a cancer diagnosis is devastating not just for the patient but also for their loved ones. In an old interview, ‘Dreamgirl’ star Ayushmann Khurrana admitted that he was so shattered after his wife, Tahira, was diagnosed with breast cancer that he hid in a remote corner of the hospital for time to come to terms with the news.
In the podcast ‘My EX-Breast’, the actor said, “I was hiding behind a pillar, the security guy, and feeling terrible. We were together in Delhi when we got to know about it from a doctor we didn't know at all. There was a time when both of us were very vulnerable, sitting in a hospital. Again, you know people are asking for pictures of where we were sitting by…”
For the unversed, Tahira was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018 and was declared cancer-free in 2020. However, on Monday, she announced that the cancer came up with a vengeance.
Sharing the sad news on Instagram, she wrote, "Seven-year itch or the power of regular screening-—it's a perspective. I'd like to go with the latter and suggest the same for everyone who needs to get regular mammograms. Round 2 for me... I still got this."
Determined to maintain positivity, she added, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. When life becomes too generous and throws them again at you, you squeeze them calmly into your favourite kala khatta drink and sip it with all the good intentions. Because, for one, it’s a better drink, and two, you know you will give it your best once again.”
On the work front, Khurrana will next be seen in the horror-comedy ‘Thama’ opposite Rashmika Mandanna. The movie, which is being produced by Maddock Films (best known for the blockbuster horror comedy franchise 'Stree'), will also star Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal in pivotal roles. He was last seen in 'Dream Girl 2' opposite Ananya Pandey.
