The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK is set to launch its first-ever full-time undergraduate degree programme—the Bachelor of Management Studies (Honours with Research). This four-year programme will be delivered at the Institute’s Kochi Campus and is aimed at preparing a new generation of responsible, globally minded and innovation-driven leaders.
The programme, which commences in the 2025–26 academic year, combines management education with interdisciplinary learning. In addition to a Major in Management, students can opt for stackable Minors in fields such as Economics and Public Policy, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Psychology and Behavioural Sciences, Finance and Big Data, Liberal Studies, and more. It offers flexible entry-exit options, an exchange semester, research opportunities, and internships.
Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director of IIM Kozhikode said: “This undergraduate programme is a game-changer. It introduces management thinking to young minds at the right age, empowers them with interdisciplinary tools, and shapes responsible, culturally aware leaders of tomorrow.”
Prof. Anandakuttan B Unnithan, Dean (Programmes), IIM Kozhikode, added: “This programme is designed for students who want to challenge conventional academic boundaries. It encourages intellectual curiosity and nurtures both analytical and creative capacities.”
Graduates from this programme will be equipped to pursue careers across a wide spectrum of domains. Possible career paths --- in addition to the usual opportunities available in Business in the fields of marketing, finance, human resource etc – include strategic roles in global businesses and multicultural teams, founder’s office and leadership-track positions, public policy and civil services, entrepreneurship and innovation-led ventures, higher education and research, including PhD pathways, the institute said.
IIM Kozhikode, has, in the past introduced initiatives such as its PGP in Liberal Studies & Management.
The admission process will begin with an aptitude test in June 2025, followed by essays and interviews in July. The first cohort will commence classes in late August or early September.
