French aerospace giant Dassault Aviation on Tuesday announced a major expansion of its India operations with the inauguration of new premises for the Dassault Aircraft Services India – Engineering Center in Pune, Maharashtra.
In a statement, the company said the move was “in line with the achievements already made to fulfil its commitments under the ‘ Make in India’ policy.” The new facility marks a significant step in Dassault Aviation’s long-term partnership with India’s aerospace ecosystem.
According to the company, “the expansion of the Engineering Center, which will double its capacity to accommodate more than 150 engineers, demonstrates Dassault Aviation’s determination to develop cutting-edge technological capabilities and foster local expertise for the benefit of its internal operations as well as those of its Indian and global supply chains.”
Dassault said the expanded Pune center underscores its strategy to strengthen local design, engineering, and industrial capabilities while enhancing collaboration with Indian partners and suppliers. The company added that the initiative will also bolster its offset commitments linked to the Rafale contract with the Indian Air Force.
“It also illustrates its commitment to meeting the offset obligations set out in the Rafale contract with the Indian Air Force,” Dassault Aviation added.
The Pune Engineering Center is a key part of Dassault’s broader industrial presence in India, which includes partnerships in manufacturing, maintenance, and technology transfer. The expansion comes amid India’s push for deeper defence indigenisation and greater private-sector participation in high-technology defence manufacturing.
