Chennai witnessed partly cloudy skies on Sunday with the maximum temperature at 37 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature at around 29 degree Celsius according to India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The weather department has predicted a relief from the sweltering heat as the city is set to receive light showers on Monday, May 5.

Rainfall predicted in Tamil Nadu
According to the IMD, due to the influence of a cyclonic circulation light to moderate rainfall is predicted in many parts of Tamil Nadu. The temperatures are also likely to fall by 2-3 degrees Celsius.
Rainfall is likely in Ramanathapuram, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Tenkasi, Puducherry, Karaikal, Thirunelveli, and Kanniyakumari districts of Tamil Nadu.
The intensity of rainfall is likely to increase in upcoming days. The weather department said that it can lead to situations like slippery roads and traffic congestion in some regions.
