Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) suffered yet another dismal outing with the bat in IPL 2025, and team owner Kavya Maran could not hide her frustration. In the game at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday, the Orange Army failed to capitalize on favourable home conditions and were restricted to 152/8 by the Gujarat Titans. Meanwhile, Maran was caught on camera giving a disappointing reaction to yet another top-order collapse.

Opting to bat first on a pitch that was expected to help the batters, SRH once again failed to do what was expected. Travis Head managed just 8 runs before falling to Mohammed Siraj in the very first over. Abhishek Sharma hit four boundaries but couldn’t convert his start. He was dismissed for 18 off 16 balls while attempting a big shot off Siraj, which was caught by Rahul Tewatia.
Abhishek’s poor form has become a growing concern for the Hyderabad-based franchise. After a brilliant 2024 season where he scored 484 runs, he was expected to continue in the same manner. However, his 2025 campaign has been far from last year’s fireworks, with scores of 24, 6, 1, 2, and now 18.

Following the early dismissals, Ishan Kishan (17), Heinrich Klaasen (27), and Nitish Kumar Reddy (31) attempted to steady the innings. Klaasen and Reddy stitched a 50-run partnership, but neither could anchor the innings till the end. R Sai Kishore dismissed both in quick succession. In the final overs, Pat Cummins showed some brilliance with the bat as he finished unbeaten 22 off 9 balls, but it wasn’t enough to push the total to a strong score. Siraj returned to dismantle the tail, finishing figures of 4/17.
