Send Push
Volkswagen India’s popular sedan, the Virtus , has hit an impressive milestone, surpassing 50,000 units in domestic wholesale sales within 28 months of its launch. Despite the overwhelming popularity of SUVs in the Indian market, the Virtus has proven its mettle as one of the top-selling sedans, with nearly 60 units sold daily since its debut in 2022.

So far in 2024, over 17,000 units of the Virtus have been sold, further establishing its dominance as India’s best-selling premium sedan this year. But what makes this model stand out in an SUV-heavy market? Here, let's take a look.

The Volkswagen Virtus brings a fresh approach to the sedan segment with its sleek design, and spacious, feature-rich cabin. At the heart of the Virtus' success, however, lies a combination of performance and safety. Available with two engine options, the sedan offers a 1.0-litre TSI engine that produces 113 bhp and 178 Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. For those seeking more power, the 1.5-litre TSI EVO engine delivers 148 bhp and 250 Nm of torque, with the added option of a 7-speed DSG automatic.

Safety has been a major highlight for the Virtus, which comes with six airbags as standard across all variants. The car boasts over 40 safety features, including ESC , Traction Control, Hill Start Assist , and a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating for both adult and child occupants. Notably, the Virtus scored 29.42 points out of 34 for adult safety and 42 out of 49 for child safety, making it one of the safest sedans in the country.

It offers a range of modern amenities such as a digital driver’s display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay , wireless phone charging, and ventilated seats. Additional features like automatic climate control, rain-sensing wipers, and connected car technology among others. Volkswagen has also introduced new variants like the Virtus GT Line and Virtus GT Plus Sport to amplify the festive excitement among Indian customers.
