'Unshakable Passion' Neeraj Chopra Breaks 90m Barrier; Fans Call Him 'National Inspiration'

Tokyo Games gold medallist and Paris Olympics silver medallist Neeraj Chopra scripted history at the Doha Diamond League by becoming the first Indian to breach the 90-metre mark. On his third attempt, he threw a distance of 90.23 metres.Sadly, while he entered the history books, it was not enough for first place. Germany's Julian Weber came first with a 91.06m throw.

When Neeraj did achieve his personal best throw, he was in the lead but Julian was able to surpass him. Neeraj’s previous best effort was 89.94 metres in the 2022 Stockholm Diamond League. He will now look to push it even further in future events.

Objective Achieved

For many years, Neeraj has come close to the 90-metre mark and fallen short with several 88s and 89s. Now he has finally gone past it. Despite winning two Olympic medals, people still wondered when he would breach it. He finally has, but had to be content with second place.

Neeraj has come a long way since shining for India in the South Asian Games back in 2016. Today he is one of the best javelin throwers in the world.
