Every year, as November arrives, millions of pensioners across the country begin the process of submitting their Life Certificate, also known as Jeevan Pramaan. This document is mandatory for all pensioners to prove that they are alive and eligible to continue receiving their pension. The last date to submit the Life Certificate for 2025 is November 30, and failure to do so could lead to a temporary halt in pension payments.
What is a Life Certificate and Why Is It Important?A Life Certificate serves as official confirmation that a pensioner is alive and entitled to receive pension benefits. It ensures that pension payments reach the right person and helps prevent fraud or wrongful disbursements.
All pension-disbursing institutions—such as banks, post offices, and government departments—are required to collect this certificate annually, typically between November 1 and November 30.
For senior citizens aged 80 years or above, the government has provided additional time, allowing them to submit their certificate from October 1 to November 30, 2025.
Documents Required to Submit a Life CertificateTo submit your Life Certificate, whether online or offline, keep the following documents ready:
-

-
Mobile number (linked with Aadhaar)
-
Pension Payment Order (PPO) number
-

Biometric verification (fingerprint or iris scan)
The government has made the process more convenient by introducing the Digital Life Certificate (DLC) system, known as Jeevan Pramaan. This allows pensioners to submit their certificate from the comfort of their home using a smartphone, computer, or biometric device.

Both methods are Aadhaar-based, secure, and eliminate the need to visit a physical branch.
Offline Method for SubmissionFor pensioners who prefer traditional methods or lack access to digital tools, the offline process remains available. You can visit your bank branch, post office, or nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) to submit your Life Certificate.
At the center, you’ll need to:
-
Fill out the Life Certificate form
-
Provide supporting documents (Aadhaar, PPO, and account details)
-
Undergo biometric verification in front of an authorized officer
Once submitted successfully, your pension will continue without interruption for the next 12 months.

Submitting a Life Certificate is a crucial annual process for pensioners. Missing the deadline of November 30, 2025 could lead to suspension of pension payments until submission. With the Digital Jeevan Pramaan initiative, pensioners can now complete the entire process online—quickly, securely, and from the comfort of their homes.
By using online platforms like Jeevan Pramaan Portal or UMANG App, pensioners can avoid long queues at banks or post offices and ensure that their pension continues without any delay.
