Strictly Come Dancing fans have been left baffled over the score difference between two stars.

On Saturday night, Liverpudlian took to the dance floor with Dianne Buswell and performed an emotional routine to a song which has a huge place in his heart. Elsewhere, star performed the Tango to Florence + The Machine’s Dog Days Are Over.

Chris' performance to You'll Never Walk Alone had the judges, including Wirral-born almost in tears as he explained why the song meant so much to him. Chris and Australian Dianne recieved 35 points from judges Shirley, Anton du Beke, Motsi Mabuse and Craig Revel Horwood, their highest score so far in the competition.

However, fans have since taken to X, formerly known as to share their views after Tasha and her partner Aljaz Skorjanec scored 34. One fan said: "#Strictly Picky picky.... Chis better than Tasha... You're having a laugh...." A second went on to add: "In no whatsoever should Tasha's Tango have scored lower than Chris' dance but I'm not surprised at all.. The judges love to let things slide when something is emotional."

A third commented: "The standard tonight is so high already. Even the dances that are being judged as 'good but these little things to make it great' are getting strong scores #Strictly." Another fumed: "Tasha getting a lower score than Chris is actually LAUGHABLE. Stop giving him special treatment. It's obvious at this point #strictly."

Despite the backlash, Chris was widely praised for his emotional performance. After taking to the dance floor, Chris had a sweet response as he asked pro partner Dianne: "Did I do okay?" to which Dianne responded: "I'm so proud of you!" Fans have said they were left "sobbing" over the dance.

"Genuinely sobbing at Chris and Dianne's dance right now. it was unbelievably stunning #strictly," said one. A second account wrote: "Sobbing at Chris AGAIN #Strictly", another put: "Well I am SOBBING #Strictly." Another viewer added: "Chris and Dianne have me SOBBING. #strictly."

Previously speaking about his Waltz to the Liverpool Club anthem, Chris told It Takes Two host, Fleur East: "Everyone has a connection to the song so you don't want it to be rubbish. If we can do something that Liverpool fans like, I have done it well. If we can do something that Everton and fans like, we have worked a miracle!"
