Man Utd news: Ruben Amorim 'complaints' emerge as he prepares for final matches

Ruud van Nistelrooy might not get a huge amount of time in charge of Manchester United but he certainly didn't hurt his reputation as a manager with a thumping 5-2 win over in the Carabao Cup - which saw him reach a landmark Ten Hag never did.

The club legend has been talked about as a possible successor to Ten Hag and that doesn't look like happening now that the club have been so quick to install Amorim as their new boss.

He did make an early impression after United netted five against opposition, something Ten hag failed to do.

Speaking after the game, Van Nistelrooy said: " I came here as an assistant to help the club," said Van Nistelrooy after the Carabao Cup win. "Now, in this role, I’m helping as long as needed. In the future, in any capacity, I’m here to help the club further to build towards the future that’s what I'm here for."

Amorim stays quiet on United move

Even though the whole football knows Amorim is set to become the next boss - the man himself has opted not to say too much after speaking for the first time since the news circulated.

Amorim's Sporting outfit are preparing for a league game against Estrela da Amadora on Friday evening and he said he would not comment on links to United until after the game was finished to ensure full focus on the match.

"I'll leave it until the end of the game. I'll talk about all these issues. Everything will be clearer. Talking now is just another destabilization for the squad. The focus at the moment is Estrela da Amadora."

He did acknowledge that there had been discussions between United and Sporting and said such talks were "never easy", promising that there would be a "decision made" after Friday's game.

"Even with the clauses, it's never easy, they have to talk, and we will have clarification after the game, It will be very clear. So it's one more day after the game tomorrow, we will have a decision made."

Sporting Lisbon frustrated over Amorim exit

While football headlines continue to be dominated by United's pursuit of Amorim, reports have claimed

Amorim has led Lisbon to the top of the Portuguese Primeira Liga and the club believe they have been "left in the lurch" by the coach departing midway through the season - with the manager set to take up to five of his staff to Old Trafford.

The Telegraph's report says Lisbon are worried about having to change their manager at such a crucial point of the campaign - while the players are also said to be frustrated after Amorim asked them for "loyalty" and commitment during the transfer window, only to leave at the first opportunity.

Amorim will stay in charge for the next few games until the next international break, which could lead to even more disruption, as the players attempt to play for a manager they know will be leaving in due course.
